And the region is....... Khabarovsk

Friday evening we received word that after consideration of our profile, we will be going to the region of Khabarovsk. We are very excited to finally know the area of our child's birth. Upon receiving word, I immediately went to the internet to find any and all information that I could on the region. Khabarovsk is the far east region of Russia. It borders China at the south, and looks to be close to Alaska. We had been thinking that we would be traveling by way of Europe, however it may be closer to travel through Korea. We will be talking soon with others who have adopted from this region, so I am sure that they will give us more information about the best way to travel. The city of Khabarovsk is on the Trans-Siberrian rail stop, and it sounds as this has revitatalized this area. Of course, the region incorporates many cities - but we will probably be staying in the city of Khabarovsk, and then traveling to and from the city of our child.

We still have lots of paperwork to do. We will be getting all of our paperwork baby (dossier) together in the next week. Hopefully, USCIS will contact us this week as well so we can get our darn fingerprint date. Frustrating!!!! Once the dossier is complete and apostled, then we send it off for translation and acceptance so we can actually get some information on our child. Right now, he/she is still a mystery.

Our agency has been wonderful - I don't know how they do it. You have to have some really special people working for you when you constantly get emails from individuals who are trying hard to be patient, but always wanting to know the next step and want the answer to "when?". This week, I will post a map of our region and some information about Khabarovsk to share with everyone. Say a prayer for us! We are very excited, but need all the prayer we can get.
