Our First Few Days at Home

We have been at home 2 1/2 days now and are settling in well. The boys love their room and toys. They really like the playscape that Papa built for them. They play all day long. Sutton was scared of the dogs and wouldn't even go down the slide if they were near because he was so scared of them, but yesterday he began to go up to Nicki and pet her. By the end of the day, he was chasing her around. This morning he went outside and began bossing her around, telling her (mostly in Russian) what he thought she should or should not do. Sutton is using English words to my amazement. He wouldn't use any (without prompting) when we were in Russia. That is probably because he was hearing Russian everywhere. But today when he went outside, I heard him say "Come here Nicki" - WOW! He says,"please" when he want someone to push him on the swings and when he wants more to eat or drink. He has had a few sulking times as well. He seems to stay back away from others for a while, but will join in on the fun a bit later (once he is acclimated).
Sawyer has been doing well, also. He developed a rash all over his cheeks about 2 days before we left Moscow, and it had been getting increasingly worse. On Friday, he awoke from nap and was very cranky, would not eat, and the rash looked like it was spreading to the entire face. Bryan and I decided to take him to the Minor Emergency Clinic. We were pleasantly surprised - both boys got in their car seats and were happy the entire trip. The doctor ran a few tests - all were negative. He called in his colleague - who was as perplexed as he was - and they decided that it was an allergic reaction to "something". Instead of an antihistamine (Children Benadryl - which is what I was thinking of doing) - they prescribed a steroid. They said that it would be safer than an antihistamine at his age (and especially since he is smaller than a normal 2 year old). We have had 2 doses of the steroid, and the rash is still there - but it has lost some of it's intensity - so I think it is working.
We are doing well. The boys slept through the entire night last night. Bryan and I have been switching off duties. Friday night, I was on call and got up a few times - Bryan was on call last night and got up a few times, but the boys never really got up. They have played with cousins - Sutton watched about 15 minutes of the UT football game with me last night - he seemed to enjoy it - But when cousin Shayna showed up, he ditched me for a prettier, younger model. Shayna played with the boys last night for over an hour. It was the first time that the boys played with the same toys together without a fight - Shayna was phenomenal with them. At the halftime, I put the boys to bed with Jetty's help. The boys went down easily (Papa was already asleep!). I finished watching the game with mom.
The real test will be today. We have a birthday party for Seth. This means that we will skip nap time, but I think we will be fine. Uncle Jimmy called and will be coming through the area - so he is going to stop by for a quick visit before the party - we are excited to see him. All is well on the Davis front!!!
