Last Day in Moscow

Well, we finally made it to our last day before leaving Russia and heading home - YEAH!!! Yesterday, we had medicals. We took the boys to the doctor and they were given a physical examination. These medicals were then taken to the embassy with their Russian passports so that we could get an appointment with the American Embassy. The rest of the day, we just walked around. The weather was pitiful - rainy and cold most of the day. We did have pizza for lunch - then went to Baskin Robbins for snack. It was the boys' first experience with ice cream. We decided on vanilla since they haven't even had a candy bar yet, and don't know what chocolate is - Sutton decided that he did not like the cold - it didn't matter how good it tasted - it was just too darn cold - so after a few bites, he was done. Sawyer was not really interested at first either because of the cold - however, after a few bites, he decided that he really liked it - and finished his ice cream and Sutton's. We came back to the hotel and after eating something from room service, everyone was out by 8:30 pm. Bryan and I were intending on putting the boys to bed at 8pm and then we would get on the internet - but, we fell asleep as well.

Sawyer actually slept until 4am this morning - this is 2 hours longer than his usual 2am wake-up time. I think he would have slept longer, but he fell out of bed. This is pretty common for him. He is so restless that I find him in all kinds of wierd positions when he wakes - sometimes his feet are in my face, other times I have a face full of diaper. Anyway, I put him back to sleep FINALLY by 5:15 am and he slept until 6:30am. We decided to do the breakfast buffet today, and the boys ate the hotel out of cottage cheese, yogurt and oatmeal. Then it was off to the American Embassy. I was surprised of the number of couples there waiting for their adoption paperwork. There were 10 couples - I don't know if they have 10 couples every day, but I thought that was a lot of Americans adopting from Russia. We received the boys' Russian passport, their adoption decrees, new birth certificates, and a sealed envelope that is to be given to the customs agent once we arrive in Houston - and it can not be opened or it is void. We returned to the hotel around 3:30pm and put the boys down for a short 30 minute nap.

Tomorrow, we must leave the hotel at 7am. We are going to order breakfast room service so that we can eat in the room before leaving. Our flight leaves the DME airport at 10:30 and we arrive in Houston 12 hours later (1:50 CST). We are hoping for a better flight with the boys - and we do not know our seats yet - but, it really doesn't matter - all that matters is that we make it to Houston with the boys and hit American soil. Our trip to Russia was long - but well worth it. We can not wait to introduce everyone to our boys. God Bless and we hope to see everyone very soon!!!
